Two days?!?!

Kirsty would like to point out that she is impressed. Impressed that although I haven't stepped outside the flat for two days I have, on both days no less, got dressed. But she likes the new prologue, even though she did just edit 200 words from it (grrrr).

Could you embrace a bit of open sourciness and post some sample chapters on your blog for people to comment on? At the very least I'd like to read some of it! Maybe the prologue?

This dude did such a thing with this article. Not quite the same thing as it was relevant to the article and isn't a novel, but interesting I thought. Especially like the comments being included.

Putting some material on the blog had occurred to me. To continue with the open source analogy while the prologue and maybe the first chapter could be described as being of 'beta' quality, the rest is very much 'pre-alpha' or 'pre-pre-alpha'.

I'm not sure I want to put any out there as it will likely lead to people asking for more and then cause no end of disruption when I decide to change half of it.

Well, it's not far off from how you get an excerpt of new books published in newspapers.

And yes you're bound to get lamers asking for the stupidest things ever if you give them the chance to, but then the few useful suggestions might make it all the worthwhile.

And anyway, I think just a sample would be good enough.

Kirsty's quite keen on the idea of me giving out the prologue so maybe she'll talk me into it soon.
